Animation meme + Mini critiques

Goodness. I had to do this.....

- X what you saw
- O what you haven't finished/seen or saw sizable portions
- Bold what you loved
- Italicize what you disliked/hated
- Leave unchanged if neutral

[X] 101 Dalmatians (1961)
[X] Alice in Wonderland (1951) - I really don't understand why people love it so much. The story never really interested me, even as a fantasy lover.
[X] Bambi (1942) - My favorite Disney film of all time. The story is so simplistic and almost lyrical- truly an overlooked gem. It is so emotionally complex under the surface; Disney did such a flawless job of painting a portrait of life in "microcosm". It was the original "circle of life" movie ;)
[X] Cinderella (1950)
[X] Dumbo (1941)- adorable and innocent-but-not-so-innocent
[X]Fantasia(1940)- Still as captivating and impressive today as it was back then
[X] Lady and the Tramp (1955)- was at one time my favorite classic Disney film. Their simplest stories are most often their best
[X] Mary Poppins (1964)- a childhood staple. Mary Poppins will always be a straight up G in my book
[X] Peter Pan (1953)
[X] Pinocchio (1940)
[X] Sleeping Beauty (1959) - The most artistically beautiful of ALL of the Disney films, in my opinion.
[X] Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)- Gahhh, I hate this movie.
[X] Song of the South (1946)- I don't find this movie racist.... whatsoever. Being raised in the south and all. Not that that has any bearing on anything.

[X] The Aristocats (1970)- It's cat's playing jazz music and.......well...... that's what it is. Cats playing jazz music.
[ ] The Black Cauldron (1985)
[X] The Fox and the Hound (1981)- My best guy friend calls me Vixy and so I am obliged to like this movie
[X] The Great Mouse Detective (1986)- not one of the more memorable Disney films, but definitely fun
[X] The Jungle Book (1967)- I loved the novel more, even as a kid. It was much more violent and realistic... and exciting
[X] The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977)
[X] Oliver and Company (1986)- my most loved Disney film from this period. The music is so infectious and it was really a big leap in a new direction for Disney. I still love Dodger and Rita and the gang :D
[X] Pete's Dragon (1977)- the dragon creeps the hell out of me
[X] The Rescuers (1977)-  Uneventful, but for some reason we always pulled it out and watched it. The second one was actually better.
[X] Robin Hood (1973) - LOVE LOVE LOVED it and still do. Had a hugenormous crush on Robin Hood as a youngin'
[X] The Sword In The Stone (1963)- very cute movie

[X] Aladdin (1992)
[X] Beauty and the Beast (1991)- I never really liked this movie as much as my friends always seemed to
[X] A Goofy Movie (1995)- this one kind of gets stuck in its time, which makes it more funny as it ages
[X] Hercules (1997)- I like the songs. The end.
[X]The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)- this one was always one of my favorites. It definitely has one of the best Disney villans.
[X] The Lion King (1994) - This movie most SERIOUSLY kicks ass. It's hard to top, and has a well earned number 2 spot on my top Disney films list.
[X] The Little Mermaid (1989)- This movie has horrible morals. Sell your soul for a man you don't even know? Whine about what you don't have when you're A FUCKING PRINCESS? .... why do we love it so much? *is guilty. cries*
[X] Mulan (1998)- "Let's get down to business, to defeat the huns!" Where would we without this song to sing obnoxiously in public?
[X] Pocahontas (1995)- meh.
[X] The Rescuers Down Under (1990)- like I said, better than the first. But I haven't seen it in a while
[X] Tarzan (1999)- One of the last good films Disney put out.... sadly

[] Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
[X] Bolt (2008)- very dumbed down CG movie is very dumb. But I enjoyed the action sequence at the beginning.
[X] Brother Bear (2003)- it had its moments
[X] Chicken Little (2005) - Umm, hello Zach Braff....
[X] Dinosaur (2000)-  ahhh, I remember this one. It's basically the land before time on steriods.
[X] The Emperor's New Groove (2000) - ALWAYS manages to make me laugh
[O] Fantasia 2000 (2000)- I've watched scenes from it... but the only one I like was the one with the forest godess or whatever she was
[X] Home on the Range (2004)- Urrrgh...
[X] Lilo & Stitch (2002)- this is a great movie because it is strangely relatable. The characters are so enjoyable and are what really make it stand out; the art style too.
[] Meet the Robinsons (2007)
[X] Treasure Planet (2002)- actually a pretty cool movie

[X] A Bug's Life (1998)
[X] Cars (2006)- I am very sure I lost brain cells watching this
[X] Finding Nemo (2003)- Two words: OVER. RATED.
[X] The Incredibles (2004)
[X] Monsters Inc. (2001)- my favorite Pixar film. The humor is always classic!
[X] Ratatouille (2007)- really enjoyed Ratatouille. I love how it doesn't insult the viewer's intelligence like most animated movies do these days and how it plays around with new ideas
[X] Toy Story (1995)- great nostalgic value attached to this one
[X] Toy Story 2 (1999)
[X] Toy Story 3 (2010)- felt like I was putting my childhood on the shelf with this one *blows nose*
[X] Wall-E (2008)- cute. That's about it
[X] Up (2009)- I loved it, and then the love began to wear off...

Pixar in general is a bit over rated, but it certainly is holding up better than Disney itself is.

[X] All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989)- Love it! The ending is such a tear-jerker
[X] An American Tail (1986)- Pretty good
[X] An American Tail: Fieval Goes West (1991)- I remember watching this a lot as a kid. The songs from it were so catchy
[X] Anastasia (1997)- I hope no one took this movie too seriously.... jeeze. It's just a cartoon.
[X] The Land Before Time (1988)- The original was excellent
[X] The Pebble and the Penguin (1995)- dumb and forgetable, but full of Tim Curry LOLz
[X] Rock-a-Doodle (1991)- So much to make fun of....
[X]The Secret of NIMH (1982)- Just an awesome film. The best Don Bluth, hands down. It's original, dark and gritty for a kid's film, but it always leaves me with a comforted feeling by the end of it for some reason...
[X] Thumbelina (1994)
[] Titan AE (2000)
[O] A Troll in Central Park (1994)- just clips from the Nostalgia Critic's review.

[] The Adventures of Mark Twain (1986)
[X] Chicken Run (2000)- oddly memorable; there's something interesting about chickens with British accents.... anyway, a likable movie
[] Corpse Bride (2005)
[X] James and the Giant Peach (1996)
[X] The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) - LOVE. But they've been whoring it out FAR too much.
[X] Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)- All I can say is WATCH THE ORIGINAL SHORT FILMS. This movie blew compared to them.
[X] Coraline (2009)- interesting, but not something I'd likely watch again

[X] Antz (1998)
[X] Happy Feet (2006)- I sort of liked this one; not a terrible movie over all
[X] Kung Fu Panda (2008)- CG blah.
[X] Madagascar (2005)-  CG blah... but it has its moments.
[] Monster House (2006)
[X] Over the Hedge (2006)- the traditional example of the mentally deficient, "high calorie", oh-so-American CG garbage movie
[X] The Polar Express (2004) - The animation makes me cringe
[X] Shrek (2001)-  not the greatest thing ever but certainly not the worst
[X] Shrek 2 (2004)- was better than the first. That's not saying a lot.
[] Shrek The Third (2007)
[] Monsters vs. Aliens

[X] Arabian Knight (aka The Thief and the Cobbler) (1995)- The Recobbled Cut version of this movie on youtube kicks many asses. Stay away from the original release though, as that is not the way the creator meant for it to be seen.
[X] The Last Unicorn (1982)- One of those classics that you can't really understand or put into words why you like it. I just know I love it. The reason much of this movie is kind of strange and awkward is because of how faithfully it follows the book- which doesn't always make for the cleanest plot. Still an awesome movie.
[] Light Years (1988)
[] The Triplets of Belleville (2003)- On my must-see list whenever I can get my hands on it. Recommended by a friend.
[] Persepolis (2007) - Not what I was expecting but a great move and one I'd highly reccomend
[] Waltz With Bashir (2008)
[X] Watership Down (1978) - an ok adapation of a great book.
[] When the Wind Blows (1988)
[] Yellow Submarine (1968)

[X] Grave of the Fireflies (1988)- I can't even look at the title without getting depressed... but everyone should see it at least once in their life.
[X] Howl's Moving Castle (2004)- Why must everyone hate on this movie? It is very near and dear to my heart; I first saw it when I was going through a very difficult time in my life and just seemed to shed a little light on things. Mad love for Howl's <3
[X] Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)-
[X] Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986)- just one of those movies that is unfailingly entertaining with every viewing
[X] Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979)- What a fun movie! Definitely the best of the Lupin films.
[] My Neighbors The Yamadas (1999)
[X] My Neighbor Totoro (1993)- certainly one of the greatest "children's" films of all time, but seems to transcend time and can appeal to any age. Real, original Miazaki magic.
[X] Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)- I really hoped that I would like it more than I did. It's still a classic though
[] Only Yesterday (1991)-
[X] Pom Poko (Tanuki War)(1994) - Really obscure and odd, but also oddly enjoyable. It would probably help if I were Japanese to catch ALL the cultural references, but I was proud of myself after recognising a few.
[X] Porco Rosso (1992) -This movie's dialogue is so contangiously witty to me that this fact alone makes it one of my favorite Ghibli films of all time. The English dub is great; all of the voices for the characters are super lovable, which is rare of me to say since I haven't exactly adored every Ghibli dub out there.
[X] Princess Mononoke (1999)- Hands down the Ghibli film that's closest to my heart. Everything about it is stunning, especially when seen and heard exactly as Miazaki intended it. It has always been a great inspiration to me.
[X] Spirited Away (2002) - Unforgetable. <3
[X] Whisper of the Heart (1995)
[X] Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea (2009) - It's the characters that drive this film. If you try to overanalyze it or try to fit it into a shape that it's not, of course it will fall flat of your expectations. Not everything should be taken for face value; there is an underlying meaning in the themes of Ponyo that you miss out on if you spend all your time complaining about how things don't make sense. I really enjoyed this movie.

[X] Millennium Actress (2001)-
[X] Paprika (2006) -  my first introduction to Satoshi Kon and still my favorite. Don't fuck with Paprika. Ever.
[X] Perfect Blue (1999) -
[X] Tokyo Godfathers (2003)- a very....erm... original Christmas story. Took a second viewing to really appreciate it.

[] End of Evangelion (1997)
[] Fist of the North Star (1986)
[]Galaxy Express 999 (1979)
[X] Ghost in the Shell (1996)- All around incredible sci-fy film that lives up to the hype.
[X] The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006)- Loved how simply yet effectively drawn out the emotion is in this movie. You "feel" every second of it. Very well done and one of my favorite anime films.
[] Lensman (1984)
[] Macross: Do You Remember Love (U.S. Title - Clash of the Bionoids) (1984)

[X] Fern Gully (1992)- A really God-awful movie that I loved as a child.
[] G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987)
[] Gobots: Battle of the Rock Lords (1986)
[] He-Man & She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword (1985)
[X] The Hobbit (1977)-
[X] The Iron Giant (1999) -  Brilliant film. One of those animated movies that seems to never age for me. It's fresh every time I watch it.
[] Justice League: The New Frontier (2008)
[X] Lord of the Rings (1978)- actually a very descent film
[] Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (1992)
[X] My Little Pony: The Movie (1986) - Annoying and surprisingly entertaining all in one!
[] Pink Floyd's The Wall (1982)-
[X] The Prince of Egypt (1998)- EXCELLENT movie. I always loved the voice work and especially the music in this one. Not to mention the stunning animation. It can be difficult to pull off biblical stories in film but this one was very well done and entertaining.
[X] Powerpuff Girls: The Movie (2002)
[X] Quest For Camelot (1999)- tend to make fun of this one nowadays....
[] Ringing Bell (1978)

You. I would rather enjoy escorting you to a gay bar.
